چکیده

[1] It has been shown that Fe charge states greater than and equal to 16 are often observed in the presence of interplanetary coronal mass ejections (ICMEs) at 1 AU. These elevated charge states, representative of hot source regions on the Sun, provide an identifier of ICMEs independent of expansion processes and heliocentric distance. Using this new identifier, we present a comparative study of Fe charge state distributions as a function of latitude and time. We compare Fe charge state data from the ACE spacecraft in the ecliptic plane with that from the Ulysses spacecraft along its orbit from low to high latitudes. We discuss the frequencies of high Fe charge state distributions through a range of latitudes on the approach toward solar maximum. Close to solar maximum, we find almost an order of magnitude fewer hot ICMEs at higher latitudes than in the ecliptic. We offer an explanation for the existence of high Fe charge states in hot ICMEs as a result of magnetic connectivity to flaring regions.

Evaluation of Spatial-Temporal Variations of Incoming Solar Radiation in Kermanshah Province Using "Liu and Jordan" Model

The aim of this study was to provide a reliable estimate of the amount of solar radiation in Kermanshah province by using “Liu and Jordan” model in order to develop solar sites. The amount of atmospheric elimination in each month was calculated using an index called clearness index () and the results were applied on different slopes, aspects and heights. Then, according to the obtained results,...

Composition of Coronal Mass Ejections

We analyze the physical origin of plasmas that are ejected from the solar corona. To address this issue, we perform a comprehensive analysis of the elemental composition of interplanetary coronal mass ejections (ICMEs) using recently released elemental composition data for Fe, Mg, Si, S, C, N, Ne, and He as compared to O and H. We find that ICMEs exhibit a systematic abundance increase of eleme...

Impact of spatial-temporal variations of climatic variables on summer maize yield in North China Plain

Summer maize (Zea mays L.) is one of the dominant crops in the North China Plain (NCP). Its growth is greatly influenced by the spatial-temporal variation of climatic variables, especially solar radiation, temperature and rainfall. The WOFOST (version 7.1) model was applied to evaluate the impact of climatic variability on summer maize yields using historical meteorological data from 1961 to 20...

Solar cycle variations of solar wind dynamics and structures

This paper reviews solar cycle variations in the heliosphere. We show that some solar cycle changes, such as the correlation between speed and density, result from the evolution of the solar structure from dipolar with strong latitudinal gradients at solar minimum to a disordered field with little latitudinal variation at solar maximum. Other changes, such as the variation of the solar wind dyn...

Analysis of the Spatial and Temporal Suspended sediment of Qarahsu Drainage Basin

This study is aimed at estimating suspended sediment load in watersheds using hydro-climatic factors with the intent to determine spatial and temporal variations of sediment yield in Qarah Su drainage basin, Ardebil Province. For this study, data from seven rain gauge and hydrometric stations during a 22-year period were used. The research was based on statistical regression analysis between va...
